Time waits for no one and summer is on it's way whether mother nature likes it or not. We live in a fortunate part of the world where in the summer months, rain or shine, some of the planets most majestic creatures visit. Our waters are home to a prolific amount of cold water marine life which makes the diving some of the best in the world. This is well known in the diving community thanks to such respected opinions as Cousteau and National Geographic.
The opportunities 'topside' however may not be as established. Seeing such sites as Orcas, Humpbacks, Dolphins, Sea Lions, Bald Eagles, and Grizzly Bears can only be enjoyed to it's fullest during the summer months from July through September. These opportunities can provide a once in a lifetime experience. Seeing these animals in the wild is quite often spectacular and always awe inspiring.
On August 8, 2011 our summer commercial SCUBA program will start and for the lucky participants that have a seat, the potential for a humbling experience such as seeing a breaching Killer Whale or a pod of dolphins playing in the wake is almost a distraction to the challenge of becoming a commercial diver. In the end however, it is these kinds of chances in life that make us realize how cool life is and how lucky we are to be able to earn a living at what we love doing, diving.
